Friday evening, October 16

Beginning at 5:30 PM, we had a room reserved at the Open Kitchen.  A surprisingly large, overflow crowd of classmates showed up, and it is no exaggeration to say that a great time was had by all.

Saturday afternoon, October 17, Speaker series

Four classmates enlightened and amused us with a variety of rich and fascination experiences.  Dr. Beth Roseberry gave us a delightful description of scientific experiments and other life experiences that began in childhood.  Following completion of military service in the Navy and a fascinating business career, Ron McManus changed courses to become an award winning author.  Having completed service in the Army and earning an MBA from Wharton, Charles Couric successfully waged the "battle of Brita," which is now a case study at the Harvard Business School.  Rick Inderfurth finished out the afternoon with an "unscripted rich and diverse career," which included not only his familiar appearances as a network journalist on ABC, but high level government service as well.

Saturday evening, 80th Birthday Cocktail Party

This was the main event!  Food provided.  Cash bar.  A social hour followed by heavy Hors d'oeuvres.  Capping the evening, our class president and master historian, Holmes Eleazer, led us in a thought-provoking program reminding us of life as it was in 1964.  The Queens Hall Parlor Rooms and Terrace on the campus of Queens University, the perfect venue for this event.

So what's the verdict?  We've heard lots of comments but Carol Hart Huffman said it best with her Facebook posting:  "Definitely the best birthday party  in 80 years!! So much fun!!! Great celebrating with 1964 MPHS fellow classmates!!!"

Monthly Luncheon

Join your classmates for lunch at Midwood Smoke House on the rear lot at Park Road Shopping Center in Charlotte. The first Monday of every month; start time is 11:30.  Please email Elise if you plan to come, brielise@bellsouth.net

60 Year Reunion in Review

Our 60 Year Class Reunion was held on October 16th and 17th, 2024, at the Marriot Hotel South Park in Charlotte.

By overwhelming consensus, the reunion was an enormous success!!! Want to see what it was like and who was there? Visit the Reunion Photos page.

Here is What Happened

Wednesday night, October 16th, we celebrated with a welcome Party in our own hospitality room; start time was 6:00 PM.

Thursday Night, October 17th, we began with a casual hour in the restaurant bar at 5:00 followed by dinner at 6:30. There was oldies music for dancing and a program that included a presentation by the Myers Park High School Foundation.
